Ole NC Barbeque - North Roxboro Rd., past Wal Mart

This will be my first "restaurant review" of various places that I eat in Durham, NC. Melanie and I don't eat out often though, so if you are looking for reviews of many different restaurants in the area to help you pick a place, this is not the right site for you. Actually, I just feel motivated to spread the word on how much I did not enjoy this place.

First the pros: The restaurant was very clean, and I think that it is a fairly new restaurant as well - It was decorated very well - nice solid wood tables and such, made it feel like it was a fancier restaurant than it really was. It was also extremely cheap. The buffet dinner was $6.59, which is pretty good for a buffet.

Cons: The food was pretty bad. I usually like Carolina BBQ places (Melanie tends to not like it though). The pulled pork, was bland and kind of mushy. In general, it seemed as if the food had been sitting there for several hours. As Melanie said "even the desserts didn't seem appetizing", and we know that when Melanie doesn't like the dessert, that is a sure sign that something is really wrong.

All told, I would rate it 2 out of 5 stars on my arbitrary scale that I just came up with right now.

If you're looking for Carolina BBQ, try Bullock's off of Hillsborough Rd. by the Kroger's. It is a bit pricier, but the food tastes much better, and it has a more friendly atmosphere.
